About the event
Join us at Sandringham Library this International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day for the launch of a new, psychotherapeutic children’s picture book called “The House in Ollie’s Tummy”. Published by baby loss charity Possum Portraits, the book is intended to help families with existing children navigate conversations about the miscarriage, stillbirth or death of a baby sibling. However, the book can also be used in educational settings like schools and kindergartens to extend childrens' vocabulary of feelings and familiarise them with the concept of deeper emotions. Co-authored by Director of baby loss charity Possum Portraits, Larissa Reinboth, and grief counsellor Dr. Korie Leigh, the story follows Ollie on his journey to navigate a new emotion - grief - which unexpectedly moves into his tummy after his baby sister Millie is stillborn. The book explores how different individuals in Ollie’s family find strategies to cope with their grief. “The House in Ollie’s Tummy” also offers imaginative and practical grief activities to do with kids. At this event, we will be doing one of the book's featured arts & crafts activities with attending children and parents.
