About
The Project
Possum Portraits is a grief support charity for bereaved families registered with the Australian Charities and
Non-Profits Commission (ACNC).

Our primary focus until now has been the drawing of perinatal loss portraits for parents who have lost a baby to late-term miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death. We provide these drawings for free to every applicant who requests one in Australia. Our portraits help parents grieve, commemorate and acknowledge their child and gives them a hand-drawn keepsake of their baby they can comfortably share with its existing, surviving or subsequent siblings.

"The House in Ollie's Tummy" is a project we are conceiving to provide parents with an additional resource for communicating and engaging with the topics of grief and loss with their living children.
A major part of this project is supplying a portion of our first print run to hospitals and public libraries around Australia.

This ensures that bereaved parents who leave hospital to meet an existing sibling at home have an immediate resource they can call upon to weather difficult questions. In the pain and confusion of their own grief, it can be hard for parents to have clarity about their own emotions, let alone to be able to express ones devastation appropriately to a child.

Hospitals will supply the book to parents as the need arises, while libraries will be able to make the book available to parents who have suffered a loss in the past.

If you would like to support our project and make free books available to bereaved parents, please donate now and give what you can!
